Case Studies

St Michael’s Wood

In 2013, Heritage Hedging Ltd created a community woodland, St Michael’s Wood, at Garton on behalf of SSE Aldbrough, which involved planting 17,000 trees and more than 2,000 metres of native hedging, as well as creating a pond, dykes and fencing the entire site.

Today, we still carry out regular maintenance of the woodland, which is maturing well and has become home to a variety of wildlife, as well as being an asset to the local community.

SSE Aldbrough

In 2007, as part of a new development at the gas storage facility, we planted 25,000 trees and 800 metres of native hedging to provide screening. We have maintained the site since planting was completed and continue to do so, this includes hedge flailing, weed control where appropriate and grass cutting.

JG Pears / Flash House Farms - Penistone

In 2014, we were approached by this Penistone based business to plant 2,000 metres of hedging to encourage wildlife and provide cover for livestock. The positive outcome of this planting, led to a successful grant application to plant a further 26,000 trees, which we were awarded the contract for. We return yearly to maintain the trees and hedges and have been asked to carry out further work in winter 2020/21.
